I was born to paint. While attending mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Memphis, I gazed up at very large beautiful paintings that adorned the walls and ceiling. I heard a voice whisper to me, "you will paint paintings like these someday. You will be an artist." I was five years old and from that time art became my passion.
I attended University of Memphis and Memphis College of Art where I honed and improved my skill, but did not begin painting seriously until my late twenties. Between raising two young children and the normal activities of living, I always had a paint brush in my hand.
As time passed people began to comment on my use of color, which I attribute to my affinity to nature and the use of the color spectrum. I improved and soon acquired numerous awards and wanted to share my knowledge with others. I became an instructor.
At present, I have been painting for forty-nine years and teaching for twenty-eight years. I enjoy instructing students who are eager to learn and show interest in all aspects of painting.
When I paint for my pleasure, I paint from the soul; I paint what interests me. My paintings reside in many private homes and businesses throughout the community. I love what I do!
Thank you for viewing my work.
To all my fellow artists: Keep those brushes wet!
